Lil Bo Weep dead with drugs, anorexia, and depression.
Lil Bo Weep had a life riddled with drugs, anorexia, and depression that resulted in her death.
Cross addiction and more than one mental disorder has claimed the life of a beautiful Australian singer at the very young age of twenty-two. Australian-born musician Winona Brooks, who goes by the stage name of “Lil Bo Weep”, was found dead after a wellness check request from her father and close friends. Winona’s issues are a complicated web of drug abuse brought on by PTSD, CPTSD, and an eating disorder. We also know from the story that Ms. Brooks had recently lost a child in which she was struggling badly with grief, loss, and mourning.
There are two things that I have in common with Winona Brooks and that is that we are both addicts and we are parents. I am making this point because I can’t imagine losing a child as Ms. Brooks did. And then, on top of that, having to deal with drug addiction. Now having to balance an addiction with grieving the loss of a child would be an enormous task. Ms. Brooks also was battling depression, PTSD, CPTSD, and an eating disorder as well. I can only imagine what kind of physical and emotional battle each minute of every day must have been for her. A video posted on her social media page on March 2 showed Winona asking her fans and friends to mourn the loss of her child along with her. She appeared very upset, as any parent would, and then was found dead a few days later. Reading a story like this makes me wish I had known Ms. Brooks. As a professional certified sober coach, I could have offered Ms. Brooks to allow me to be her sober companion. She needed someone to fight the battle with her daily. Ms. Brooks desperately needed drug and alcohol treatment, food addiction, and eating disorder treatment. She needed a sober companion by her side on an hour-by-hour and day-by-day basis. Sober companionship with an addiction coach can be the toughest decision you make but can be the most rewarding decision you make.
Every active struggling addict truly believes that they have one more day or one more “high” left in them before they seek help. Winona Brooks is a prime example of your gamble with addiction going the wrong way for you. She was a beautiful and talented young lady who deserved to live much longer than addiction and depression allowed her to.
