Why does NA and AA not work?

Why does NA and AA not work?

Well, where do we start? Let’s start by saying that Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous has helped many people and saved lives. However, as times change some of NA and AA’s theories and practices seem outdated to many. And what about those who don’t believe in God or a ” Higher Power” but need a good successful program to help them extinguish their cycle of addiction? Where do they turn?  In today’s world addiction needs to be handled on a case by case basis. What might work for me may not work for you! Some addictions may qualify for harm reduction methods to get a person clean and sober and this type of treatment is considered “pure blasphemy” in NA and AA circles. So, in my opinion, NA and AA has zero flexibility. Its “their way or the highway” and in the recovery community and addictions industry there is “more than one way to skin a cat”.

Addiction is deadly serious and should be treated as such and all parties involved should be opened minded to any possible treatment and alternatives to treatment that would ultimately save an addicts life, not just the treatment that NA and AA feels are “the only way to sobriety”! The Addictions Coach and the Addictions Academy treats addicts in ALL successful alternatives to treatment options and trains their students in MANY different types of addiction modalities. The Addictions Coach evaluates each individual addict and can do an alternative to treatment on both sides of the recovery spectrum. For example, Dr. Cali Estes and The Addictions Coach has their Sober on Demand program where they bring the alternative to treatment to the addict, instead of the addict checking in to a residential rehab facility.

The Addiction Coach sends top certified sober coaches to the client and gives a level of attention warranted by the client’s intake evaluation. It could be a recovery based plan as simple as skype sessions or it could be attention as intense as live in 24/7 around the clock recovery-based care. The reason traditional treatment centers have failed is that their entire treatment program is based on the twelve-step model of abstinence. This model is called the Minnesota Model. Dr. Estes and her team have created a unique concept and alternative to the treatment called Sober on Demand and a unique aftercare program called Launch Pad. We believe that this type of flexibility gives the addict a greater chance of getting clean and sober and staying clean and sober.
