Whats the difference between a Sponsor a Coach and a Therapist ?

Knowing whom to hire for assistance is key to understanding  your addiction.

A sponsor is an unpaid, usually unqualified individual that simply has ‘been there’ and will work with you on a set of guidelines called 12 steps. They usually have no formal training and are in the program themselves.  Usually available at a moments notice.

A Coach is usually someone that is certified and understands the concept of addiction. They can be an individual that stays with you for a specific period of time or accompanies you to events to encourage you to stay sober. They are available via text phone and email 24/7.

A therapist is an individual that has formal training, usually a Master’s degree, and certifications in the art of understanding addiction. Usually booked for 1 or 2 hours per week.
